A quick left-to-right frame wipe. Fade in calendar pages tearing away the years. Fade in next picture. That's my Dad, right, with his dad, showing his boy the ropes. Or, the pen lines at least. Pop, with his eighth-grade education, went into the steel mills and worked his way up. Dad followed him, of course. That's what you did in the steel mills in northeast Ohio. I don't know how old Dad is, but he still has that underdeveloped teen-age-look about him. No wedding ring, either, so we're talking, maybe, mid-1940s. There's no notations to indicate this, but considering the artifical poses and the fact that the picture's a 5" by 7" on stiff paper, I suspect it was taken for a company newsletter, some nice little piece about a father-son working together at the ole mill. |
