Some
things never change. But while there's always someone in the business
of offering to set you up in a business, the ads in MI came with a different
set of beliefs. Work hard and use our products, it said, and you can make
a living. None of them offered to let you work from home, and none implied
that you could be a six-pack shy of a case, poorer than an Enron shareholder
and have the ethics of a record executive and still be able to Make Big
Bucks In Your Spare Time.
You'd think, though, that
the woman would be a little more excited by the lettuce Danny Thomas is
waving in her face.
"Thank God the war started!
Maybe he'll enlist."
And who washes walls? Why
would anyone send off for this?
