IN THIS environment, James Childress fit right in with the loosey-goosey spirit of the newspaper. He illustrated the odder questions for Call Quest, including one I submitted when I was about 11 or 12, an urban legend I heard about NASA buying fireflies for an experiment. Personal Chat also published one of my letters, so thereafter I paid more attention to the News, and to Childress.
